Episode 1.02 "The Broker"

The cast gets their private offices set up. They also meet a new and mysterious contact who specializes in the unknown, but the price for information may be too high.

Meanwhile: Kyle delves into the mysteries of the Super Drug, Ashley tries to deal with her newly manifested demonic side and Charlie seeks answers on exactly who he is.

Current Questions: The strange stone tablet with the glowing yellow symbol on it. The book titled “The King in Yellow”.

Episode Recap: The cast was stumped on how to learn more info on the Tablet and it’s symbol. As such, they opted to seek out a demon known as The Broker. A Byblos demon, the Broker is a master of knowledge and collection. He’s also a pretty decent guy, once you get past the creepy secret collection stuff. He’s one of the top collectors in the New World of occult artifacts and tomes. Chances are , he’ll get the info. One catch though…the cast had to fetch the Veil of Shai’Nach from a group of vamps that stole it from him through robbing a courier truck.

They accepted the deal, and sought out information on where the vamps could be living. They sought info at the scene of the crime. Kyle surmised that it was likely they had surfaced from the sewers. Easy access to and from the scene of the crime.

Charlie had a date with Amanda, who went missing about the same time the adventure started. Thus far they have no info on it (because we forgot lol. So we will handle that next session)

Ashley and Charlie sought info at a bar about the vampire pack, and talked to Kevin. Kevin is the same sort of demon as Angels contact “Merl” was. Weasely, but not entirely uncharismatic. Genuinely nice, though. For a demon. While there, Ash learned that enough hard liquor can trigger her to change into her demon form. She is still learning to cope with that half of herself.

There they learned that the vampires were likely hiding in the sewers near Dundas/College area.

Kyle was having lucid hallucinations, which got a bit stronger through the episode.

We concluded with the cast facing a seemingly invisible guard dog, making it run away in pain and panic, and then stealing the Veil from the apparently unoccupied vampire lair. The cast then left the sewers into an alley getting close to sunset, where Kyle saw his “peripheral” hallucinations up close. Crab/Spider-like creatures, with eyeballs on each joint of their limbs and a single large eye on the back. At least 10 of them.

Episode 1.01 - Series Premier "Buried"

A local girl is found dead of an apparent mauling. But there is something strange going on, something dark and hideous that will drag the ancient past into the spotlight. Meanwhile, the cast connect and develop friendship and team skills and deal with personal problems.

Recap of Episode:

People of Note:

Lawrence Kepler – Head Honcho of the Morningstar Foundation
Amanda Pierce – Earth Friends. Attracted to Charlie. Also somehow connected to his deceased wife.
Jennifer Drake – Cultist of some as yet unknown “god”
“Paula” in “Accounting” – only mentioned. Vygoth Beast. Communicates with odours and pheromones, none of which tend to be overly pleasant. Requires a special environment where she can soak in her own fetid juices. Reportedly one hell of a baker. The whole office loves her scones.

“Supercoke” – unknown narcotic located in Jennifer Drake’s apartment.

Book “The King in Yellow” – last copy of a “forbidden” play. The first act is innocent. Any person ever reading beyond that has either gone insane or ended up dead or worse.

Book “Cultes des Goules” – Book of black magic. Contains numerous spells.

Stone tablet with strange symbol on the cover. Given to Kyle by a strange chittering creature in a secret cavern in high park.

Highlights:

Ashley pulling off a startlingly badass move: Leaping into the air onto the back of a Byakee, and then tearing it’s head clean off it’s body.

Ashley assuming chloroform is responsible for her swapping into her demonic visage. And insisting upon it regardless of facts.

Kyle constantly keeping tabs on his narcotics. And then leaving them behind at the suit store along with his money.

Charlie TASTING the foul, bizarre , glowy green substance that smelled like a rotting corpse. And finding it tasted exactly like it smelled.

Buffy/Angel Canon Timeline

2002 – Los Angeles – Angel Investigations unwittingly brings the Supernatural into the limelight during a near apocalypse. For several weeks, the sun is blotted out over LA followed by the arrival of a “divine” being known as Jasmine. After these events, most of it was swept under the rug (so to speak) and people eventually chalked it up to exaggeration or urban myth…or outright hoax. A few , however, knew the truth. Namely the people that lived in LA at the time and were under the spell of Jasmine.

2003 – Sunnydale – The First Evil is destroyed when Buffy Summers concocts a daring plan: Using Willow Rosenburgs astounding magical talents, alter the actual magic used to create the Slayer line. Instead of one Slayer, any potential slayer would now be a Slayer. The recently ensouled Vampire named Spike sacrificed himself to save the Slayer and her friends. In the process Sunnydale is completely destroyed. The Slayer and company take a well deserved year or two off to lick their wounds and train the new Slayers flowing their way from all over the world.

2003 – Meanwhile in Los Angeles, an Old One is resurrected into the body of a mortal woman. Named Illyria, she is effectively “leashed” by Angel Investigations (now working from within the belly of the beast at Wolfram and Hart). Angel concocts his own daring plan much as Buffy did… take the fight directly to the Senior Partners by eradicating their entire secret society responsible for most of the prime evils of the world: The Circle of the Black Thorn.

2003 – After the above events with Angel, the Senior Partners send LA (yes, all of it) into Hell. Angel and company face many trials there. The outside world thinks LA is perfectly fine, thanks to a supremely powerful Glamour.

There is more, but I am unsure I want to use it in the campaign, or what year this should all take place in . I kinda like just “handwaving” and letting the story start now (2013) and I can fill shit in as I wish.
